National Space Society of North Texas member Tom Zavist will present THE ELECTRIC UNIVERSE THEORY at 6:00 pm at the NTSFW August meeting, Saturday August 14 at the Hurst Barnes and Noble Bookstore.

This event is free and open to the public.

Alpine Writers' Retreat 2009

NTSFW member Gerald Warfield attended the 2009 Summer Writing Retreat in Alpine, Texas, sponsored by the Texas Writers’ League. Dealing with the subject of voice, the class was one week long and taught by Carol Dawson, author of Body of Knowledge and The Mother-in-Law Diaries. That’s Carol, the dark-haired lady lurking behind the woman in the red sweater.

The class was terrific, says Gerald. The first session alone was worth the trip down there. One of Carol’s big points was that voice itself can serve as the hook for your short story or novel.
